End of year- Video

Collaboration take away

Unlike animation, in video you have to collaborate on every project. We didn't always get to chose our groups so we had to learn to get along with others that we may not work with all the time. It was important to collaborate on ideas about story boarding and location. Being in e-Comm has taught me the skill of being able to talk and collaborate with people who don't have the same interest as me.

Communication take away

In video, I learned how to communicate with my group about what scenes we would film and when we would film them. It was important to communicate during projects, because sometimes you underestimate how long a project will take and you realize you won't be able to film it all in school, so you have to communicate and work out a time outside of school that will work for everyone. Being able to communicate with others has helped meet due dates and has also made the project run smoother.

Technology take away

At the beginning of the year, we were upgraded from iPads to panasonic video cameras. They were a lot more complicated than the iPads and were hard to set up at first, but communicating with others helped the process go smother. I also learned how to export videos from Adobe Premiere, add color correctors, add transitions, and more. Adding color correctors made the video have more emotion and adding the transitions made they clips not so choppy. I will use these skills learned to apply to next years projects.

Project management take away

I learned that project management is a lot harder in video than it is in animation. For video sometimes you can get delayed because of some group members missing or the location you need is being used. You have to be sure to plan out enough days so that if one day doesn't work you have a backup day scheduled. As I referred in my last blog (end of year animation under "project management") I liked google classroom because I knew when the due dates were and it helped with organization.

Overview of the year                           (example of wide shot below)

Since last year, I have definitely grown. I now know how to use and set up a camera, export, edit, color correct, add transitions, and even got to experience being behind the scenes for a sophomore edition of ONW Now. I have built a good relationship with my teacher, Mr. Cooper because he knows what I want to do in the future and he helps me when I get stuck on projects, or when I can't find a computer mouse.  The biggest take away I had this year, again was to have fun.

Professional Article Review

Maya Software! In this article, a college student writes about downloading Maya in one of his classes. He does not really have an argument, but if there was one I'd say he is for the Maya software program. He writes about how it is helpful because a new setting, Camera Sequencer is used to let people layout their camera shots, and can manage them with one part of the animation. The author did a good job of conveying people to download Maya, but however he did not do such a great job in explaining in detail what some of the other features are. I would add more information next time, and more featues to talk about. In general this article helps me understand the Camera Sequencer and hopefully I will be able to use it sometime at school. I read about  Deshaun Watson's injury . I liked how the reporter was quick the point, so I knew right away that DeshaunWatson tore his ACL. I also liked how he incorporated a tweet to break up some of the text. I think the reporter could have added a little more information in the first paragraph like telling us how he tore it and if he would be out for the entire season. I will take away from this article how the writer incorporated tweets into the article breakup the text. I also will try to give the information right off the bat so the reader knows what the article is about right away.

They story I watched was a little boy who received a special Christmas,  It all started when a little boy took his moms phone and posted a video of himself on his moms Facebook. He then later appeared on Ellen and was interviewed by  Ryan Seacrest and Kris Jenner. He shocked people with his knowledge on dinosaurs.   The anchors brought his toys on the show so he could show them what he knows. The anchors gave them their full attention and that to me made watching this story better. A lot of background information was given as the anchors asked him the 5 W's.  I personally feel they did a good job with the interview. I will take the skill of really interacting and engaging with people for further interviews. Also, adding more background information to set the scene.
