End of Semester Blog

Strengths: I would say my strengths would be working well with others because I worked with Alysa this whole soccer season fliming and editing videos. I also say I would have good project management skills because I post my videos and update my websites on time. I am also responsible because I check back in my equipment and take of the equipment. Weaknesses: I would say my voice overs and my voice in general on camera needs to have more excitement and I should add facial expressions when reading off the teleprompter so I can look more like I want to be there. I also need to work on editing videos with better b-role and transitions. My plan to improve would be to keep up my project management skills, but also to add more enthusiasm to my voice and smile on camera so I look more excited. I also plan to spend more time editing videos so I am not as rushed.

I watched a video about a brother who saves his little brother from chocking. I liked how the anchors asked simple questions that could be understood by the little boy and I also liked how they had an emergency response worker on the show because that is how the little boy learned how to save someone from chocking. They used a fake baby to demonstrate how to save someone from chocking and I liked that because you could see a visual representation of how the little boy learned it. I think it would've been better if the mom explained a little more about what happened because it was hard to understand what he was saying at some points. I will try and use visual references so that the audience can have a visual idea of what is going on. I will also keep in mind to write my questions to the level of the person I am interviewing (example: if I am interviewing someone younger make my questions simpler, than if someone who is older).

I watched Ellen interview Jennifer Hudson on her being Christmas' biggest fan. I liked how Ellen asked thoughtful questions because she got more than just one answer. Also her question choice was good because it led to a different topic, talking about Hudson being a judge on The Voice.  Usually Ellen interacts more with audience but she didn't do to too much this time. I personally feel that if she was to include the audience more it could have added more excitement.  I will take away the thoughtful questions asked because I saw how good questions can lead to multiple responses. I will try and incorporate more detailed questions in my further interviews to get better answers.

They story I watched was a little boy who received a special Christmas,  It all started when a little boy took his moms phone and posted a video of himself on his moms Facebook. He then later appeared on Ellen and was interviewed by  Ryan Seacrest and Kris Jenner. He shocked people with his knowledge on dinosaurs.   The anchors brought his toys on the show so he could show them what he knows. The anchors gave them their full attention and that to me made watching this story better. A lot of background information was given as the anchors asked him the 5 W's.  I personally feel they did a good job with the interview. I will take the skill of really interacting and engaging with people for further interviews. Also, adding more background information to set the scene.
